Education with Intention

Monica Menon is an educator, curriculum designer, and mentor with over 25 years of experience working across international and national education systems.

Her practice centres on building coherent, values-driven learning experiences that help both educators and students grow with purpose.

Drawing from her background in curriculum development, teacher mentoring, and language education, Monica partners with schools to create frameworks and programmes that integrate lifelong learning and 21st-century competencies — while supporting students to think, write, and communicate with confidence.

Educational Philosophy

Learning as Design, Teaching as Reflection

Monica believes that education is not just about outcomes, but about the design of meaningful learning journeys.

Her approach balances intellectual rigour with empathy, drawing from reflective practice, design thinking, and coaching models.

Every project begins with listening — understanding the learner, the teacher, and the context — before creating frameworks or experiences that are practical, purposeful, and sustainable.

Professional & Educational Background

  • Monica holds:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in English Language & Literature

    • Master’s Degree in Education (Curriculum & Pedagogy)

    • Additional professional qualifications in reflective practice, coaching, and language education

She has also contributed to multiple publications, including curriculum materials, instructional guides, and assessment resources for both educators and students.

  • Monica currently serves as Curriculum Specialist with MINDS, where she works with curriculum and course development teams across both school and adult programmes — designing the organisation’s total curriculum framework.

She is also the primary developer of the Hodder Education Checkpoint Series for IGCSE English (Stages 7, 8, 9, and 10), where she designed multi-level learning modules and assessment pathways used internationally.

  • Monica is the primary course designer for the Cambridge Assessment English Teaching Knowledge Course (TKC), a professional learning programme for English educators.

Her work includes the design of course outcomes, learning progressions, assessment components, and educator support materials used across multiple international contexts.

  • Monica’s work in teacher education spans several institutions and reflects her long-standing commitment to developing confident, reflective, and professionally grounded educators. At the National Institute of Education (NIE) Singapore, she has served as a Practicum Supervisor and as a Tutor on several teacher preparation courses, guiding pre-service teachers as they strengthen their pedagogical practice, reflect on their classroom experiences, and grow into thoughtful practitioners.

Her work extends into higher education through her role with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), where she supervises Early Childhood educators undertaking their Academic Exercise. In this capacity, Monica supports educators as they engage in practitioner inquiry, refine their research questions, and connect theory with the realities of classroom practice.

Regionally, she is a regular Teacher Trainer with GPEX in Malaysia, contributing to the professional development of educators in Malaysian Independent High Schools. Through these programmes, she facilitates training in English language teaching, curriculum design, and instructional approaches that respond to the needs of diverse learners.
